You may feel ashamed of carrying debt.
You may feel less-than because you have debt.
But you are not less-than.
And that shame filled thinking doesn’t serve anyone.
Debt is not inherently bad.
Thinking badly of yourself because you are in debt doesn’t get you out any faster and often does just the opposite.
Instead of beating yourself up about debt, think of it this way:
Debt is just something we have received and we haven’t paid for yet.
Like a meal before the check comes.
Like a bill from your dentist.
People don’t hang their head in shame when they buy a house.
And a house is probably the most debt you will ever experience.
Debt is not a scarlet letter.
Debt is not a reflection of how good you are.
And debt is not something to hide from.
Debt is just debt.
And you are still glorious you.
What do you feel when you feel wealthy?
It might be pride or abundance or many other things.
But to create true wealth, it comes from a place of peace.
It all starts from peace.
Wealthy starts when you get to your place of peace and want for nothing more in that moment.
That peace expands and creativity adds traction.
You must get up from where you sit and serve the coffee or engineer the software or manage the people.
You must put value out into the world.
Don’t worry if you fall out of that soft cozy place of peace because our brains are designed to continually want more.
That’s part of what keeps us alive.
We want more.
Then we get it.
Then we want more.
But we can continually bring ourselves back to peace.
THAT’s where we find wealth.
It’s the merger of peace and flow… the state of doing something so absorbing you lose track of time.
Peace, flow, creativity.
Rinse and repeat.
I find the graspy, scarcity places of my brain put the kibosh on wealth.
Freaking out about money scares away wealth.
But I have created a habit of continually guiding myself back to peace.
Always back to peace.
If you don’t have time to read this, take a deep breath.
In that breath you will capture a capsule form of what it feels like to feel abundant.
You have an abundance of air.
Pull it into your lungs.
Hold it there for a moment.
And let it back out.
Try it again.
Breathe deeply from your diaphragm.
Fill your lungs.
You have an abundance of air.
You don’t feel deprived of air.
It is all around you.
You take it in as you need it.
That’s how money is too.
It is all around you.
Take it in. Use it.
And let it go out again.
Hoarding money isn’t good for anyone.
When you breathe you don’t want to take a breath and keep it in.
Like air, you want money to pass back out into the world for other creatures and plants to use.
It makes the weather.
It feeds us all with oxygen.
And like breathe, we need to slow down to feel the wealth… to feel the enoughness.
You don’t want to breathe too much air. Just enough is just right.
Create a lot of value and enjoy the richness that comes back to you.
Then let it go back out.
You may be paying for other things or experiences or services, or you may be investing it so you have an emergency fund or you may pause and collect more so you can buy something of even greater value that you can pause and enjoy.
Wanting money to just come in is graspy.
Wanting money to just go out is unbalanced.
It is the in and out flow of money that keeps us wealthy.
And you can’t have flow if you don’t take time.
Take a breathe.
Feel the abundance.
